The old horseshoe
I found an old horseshoe and after seeing so many cute ideas for craft projects I just knew I had to try one. I began with the rusted horseshoe wiped it off but did not sand it down. I wanted the rustic look so I just burnished it with a touch of gold paint, the shoe even still had all the nails in it. I found a board that I liked and gave it a touch of the same gold paint I used on the horseshoe. I printed a picture that I wanted to use and placed it on the board, I then nailed the horseshoe to the board using the nails already in the shoe. I then added a bit of hot glue to each of the nails to hold them in place.
Time to decorate
I decided it was time to start decorating, I felt that turquoise, and suede were a good place to start. I added the turquoise pieces where I wanted them and glued them all in place. A bit of suede around the photo and a heart in the corner and this piece is starting to look great.
The finished project
For a finishing touch I added a little sign that says forever then a hangar on the back. It now hangs in a place of honor to celebrate this sweet little girl and her fond memory of helping great grandma with her horses.
