My Poems

ruralhomecreations.com

Hello everyone, I decided to change my post for today and share with you two poems that I wrote, they were both written after two tragedies hit out nation. The first that moved me to write “Little Angels” was the school shootings at Columbine in 1999 and the second “Nation of Hero’s” was after 9/11.

After the mass shooting in Las Vegas yesterday I felt compelled to share these with you because they both are as appropriate today as they were when written.

I am a Nevada native, Battle Born and Battle Bred, my heart goes out to all the victims and their families. I am very proud of the response of all the law enforcement, medical teams and the everyday hero’s that helped people during this horrific event. Poems written by  Anna Whiteside, Tonopah, Nevada

Little Angels

The angel’s tears fell hard and strong

When the gunshots filled the air

Then the angels raised their voices in song

As they welcomed the young angels into Gods care

All the young angels gave God their souls to love

Yet they wept for the families they left behind

As the angels gathered round them up above

God told the young angels, you are always on their mind

Your families will weep but will soon come to know

I will keep you forever in my loving care

And one day your families will have their turn to go

From the earthly bonds to a heaven you all can share

You are my newest angels and there is work for you to do

You will need to go and help your families cope

With the pain they feel at this time of losing you

So you must touch their souls and give them hope

You will journey back to earth on these angel wings

So the message from God can be carried out

And the world seldom listens when an angel sings

So you my little angels will need to shout

You must pass thru the souls of those you love

And of your friends as they sit and cry

You must let them know you now soar like a dove

And their lives must go on and they must continue to try

The little angels asked God why they had to leave in such a way

He replied that although he created woman and man

He gave each the power to think and a choice of what to say

And each soul was supposed to do the very best they can

But some on earth don’t believe in Heaven above

And hate and pain consumes their everyday lives

So you see my little angels those souls don’t look for love

Therefore a world with anger and hate thrives

But you my little angels were some of the best

And though my plan wasn’t for you to come home so soon

You must now help spread my love to all the rest

So lift your voices and send your families a joyous tune

One little angel asked God, but how will my family hear me

I never heard an angel sing or saw one with my eyes

God just smiled and waved his hand for the angels to see

And behold the morning sun began to rise

You don’t need to see my angels to know they are near

You see them in the sunlight and hear their voices on the breeze

You feel their presence in a mother’s hug when she calms your fear

You feel the flutter of their wings with the wave of the trees

You hear their laughter in a child’s voice at play

You feel their warmth surround you when you’re blue

My angels are everywhere, in all you do and say

And now my little angels that warmth and love is you.

A Nation of Hero’s

You walked out of a cloud of smoke.

You kneel’ed at a young man’s side.

I heard the gentle words you spoke.

I watched as you and this nation cried.

The nurses the doctors and the firemen too.

The people aboard the planes in the air.

How could such tragedy happen to you?

From a terror whose heart doesn’t care.

This nation’s heart breaks but thru it all.

Comes the hero’s we all wish we could be.

The ones who gave their lives with no thought at all.

To the dangers that they just couldn’t see.

I saw you hold an old ladies hand in yours.

I saw you comfort the fear in her eyes.

I felt your pain thru the cabin doors.

As evil struck at you in the skies.

As the towers fell hard to the ground.

And the smoke and dust grew so thick.

I saw the hero’s all start to gather round.

Your time of response was so quick.

The soldiers, police and civilians at work yesterday.

The families that got their last call of goodbye.

One nation of hero’s each in their own way.

Now under God’s care and his watchful eye.

The media people who tried hard not to cry.

As they reported the facts thru the day.

The children who lost parents and don’t know why.

Terrorists did this is all we can say.

I’ve seen the hero’s who gave blood to save someone’s life.

Or gave a  hug to a stranger, or just held a hand.

A stewardess that protected her captain and got cut with a knife.

One nation of hero’s standing strong under the flag of our land.

These terrorists tried to cut deep in our hearts.

To cause panic and fear in our land.

But American’s won’t fall apart.

For united we are and united we stand!
