Our crayon pumpkin

Idea for pumpkin

I found this really cute idea on https://ruralhomecreations.com//momspark.net/melted-crayon-pumpkin/  so I decide to try it with the help of my 6 year old granddaughter.
We went to the store (no pumpkin patch close by) and they didn’t have white pumpkins so we had to improvise. We bought our pumpkin and a can of white spray paint and headed home.
ruralhomecreations.comFirst thing we did was wipe down the pumpkin to get the dirt off!
Next we had to paint the pumpkin  ruralhomecreations.com which turned out okay, because we got most of the paint on the pumpkin and not us! Next step was to get out the crayons and remove the paper wrappers. My granddaughter proceeded to unwrap the crayons and then she had the job of arranging them on the pumpkin. ruralhomecreations.com After she got them arranged exactly as she wanted them it was Grandma’s job to use the heat gun to melt the crayons. Make sure not to let little ones near the heat they could get burned. Another thing is to make sure you have an extra box of crayons on hand. This is so when you start melting their favorite color crayon, which you had no idea that was the favorite color of the day, you avoid many tears until you find the other box. Good thing our other box of crayons was close by when the purple crayon suddenly started to melt!

Just be prepared for little fingers reaching over to grab their favorite color of melted crayon and pulling it off the pumpkin. Be aware you can’t just stick it back on without heating it up again. My lesson learned for next time! ruralhomecreations.comThe next step was to put the newly crayon decorated pumpkin in it’s place of honor for the season, and add a little decor around it.
ruralhomecreations.comNot a traditional carved pumpkin but we certainly had fun (mostly except for the melted purple crayon)
Hope you have a fun, crayon melting, carving, painting or your choice of pumpkin decorating time! Talk to you soon!
